Sewing has certainly come a long way since I was a child. Sewing machines are sewing computers now and they
make sewing a breeze! There are so many fun decorative stitches and decorative techniques available today
that I can't stop learning about them all.
My desire to teach sewing was so strong that I began the journey of getting up to date on the latest sewing
techniques and how to teach sewing. I completed the Trained Sewing Educator course in 2007 that is offered
by the Home Sewing Association. I attend 2-3 conferences each year to learn new techniques from expert
teachers in their field. I am also a member of the Home Sewing Association and the American Sewing Guild
where I became the founding president of the Los Angeles Chapter.
Recently I completed the Palmer/Pletsch Fit Workshop and became a Certified Sewing Instructor through
their comprehensive program.

My name is Jeanette Swanson and I have been
sewing for over 45 years. I started sewing
doll clothes and tote bags when I was 7 years old.
I participated in 4-H fashion shows and won
awards for my clothing construction and home
decor.
When I was in high school I made clothing for myself, for the prom/dances and also to
decorate my room. When I got married and had my own children I sewed clothing for them
and decorated my house with handcrafted accessories.
Today, I want to pass on this skill that will last your whole life. No matter what your age or
stage is you will be able to create something beautiful and useful from a piece of fabric.
Stitch Club is located in Santa Clarita, California and was born out of an idea to provide sewing education in a
fun environment. I primarily teach sewing through the Parks and Recreation Department and Beverly's
Fabrics & Crafts Shop, but I also provide group classes from time to time. Small class sizes allow for more
personal attention. I also teach private and semi-private lessons in your home or my home sewing studio.
And we don't want to forget FUN! That's our motto...to make sewing FUN!
